Brendon Baker's Basic Webpage

This the first webpage that I have ever created. I feel so excited! As I think about the topic of my final website, here are some possibilities:

Topic 1

Team Connect

One of my ideas is to develop a website called Team Connect. Team Connect will fill a gap in the social media and web coverage of sports teams. Teams put a lot of manpower into both social media feeds and websites, but in my opinion, teams do not merge social media and digital media and house it all in one place. Team Connect will house all of a team's connect, everything from creative videos and web articles, to social media content. Team Connect will house the team's social media feeds on the team website, allowing fans to visit one place for all the coverage they need on their favorite team.

Topic 2

Golden State Warriors

One of the sites I've been looking at for inspiration is the Golden State Warriors Website. There are aspects of the social media approach to the Warriors Site that I like. For example:

  1. All of the team's social media feeds are listed at the top of the navigation bar
  2. The site also includes a Social Media Spotlight at the bottom of the homepage, with pictures and videos from some of the team's accounts, such as Snapchat and Instagram.

In addition to elements of the Warriors site I like, there are changes that I believe could be made to better promote social media. For example:

  1. The site only links to the social media feeds, I think a better approach is to embed the feeds directly into the site itself
  2. The social media spotlight on the homepage is located all the way down at the bottom of the page, below a ton of other content, most users probably aren't going to scroll down that fair to find it

Overall, what I've taken away from the Warriors approach to social media is the team believes social media helps bring fans closer to their favorite team, making every fan a part of what the team calls DubNation.

This is evident by the slogan on the social media section of the Warriors site:
